Saturday the 29th of August arrived so suddenly, primarily because I thought I was playing at a later date. What a cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere!  at the Sole and Heel in Rackheath, Norwich. UK!

Jon Figura-Drane on guitar (who organized the evening’s music) and his two brothers, one on ukulele and the other singing and sizzling harmonica cunjoured up the magic of ‘The Waterboys’
They ended with a version of ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen
My set:–
After discovering that I needed a mike-stand, an appropriately placed hatstand and a carefully balanced microphone, a cushion of my folded jacket —- I launched into ‘Sunset Suite’, followed by ‘Girl of my Dreams’ the warm approval from the locals just took all those nervous trembles away.
Having planned to sing three and see if they liked me or not, it was clear I could keep on rolling and so I played a new one called ‘Rubberman Dance’ ( mixed up apocolyptic haunts of my visit to Hollow-Wood !! ;) )  … my scribbles were not that clear and so I had a few hestitations but it went down well.
So I got to do a few more.
I played ‘Gypsy’ a sort of Van Morrison knock-off, about just floating free and being a gypsy heart….followed by ‘The Way You Move’ — sort of a Cat Stevens type vibe… and then I was ready to run on home, but was encored for another song.
So I did ‘Neighbourhood’ — memories of playing up above Hout Bay harbour…. ‘Freedom’ — my Canned Heat style blues tune, and then managed to convince Jon’s brother (the one who sang and played harmonica) to join me for ‘Take This Hat’ — the ala Eric Schmakton style blues piece, and then stepped off.
Wow, what an amazing evening!
After a while —  past members of the band , joined them and played some more AMAZING original songs!

I hope I get to do that again soon.   :)
