The Music House – Jurnet’s Bar – 23rd October 2009

The Music House

I love playing at ‘The Music House‘ in the basement of Jurnet’s Bar on the waterfront in Norwich, so when I got a letter from Andrew Taylor; who hosts and does all the sound to play a spot, I was all excited. hehehe!

Jurnets Bar

With Winter on the march brrrrrrrrrrr…I set off in the dark (my favourite time of the day) and now that I know my way, it took just over twenty minutes.
I love playing the SJ200 Ephiphone! and the RotoSound – Jumbo Kings – phosphorous bronze; were lasting as well as my old D’Addarios — I still love the bounce of the D’Addarios…they really are great for picking.
The whole sound set up is great!
Musos and friends were slowly filtering in.

Normally I figure out a song list while I am practicing, but I decided to just do the “wait and listen” … for the wind…
I had five to ten minutes to chill, so I paged through my book and chose three songs. “The Last Train”, “Shoreline Suite” and “Rubberman Dance”….and suddenly it was time…

It’ always so cozy in The Music House, and the applause is warm and enthusiastic. It’s hard not to play your best. It is a little unsettling for me, being more of a background man…or as I have recently re-examined my official musical style..not ambient…but…SUBLIMINAL….LOL

After finishing the three originals…yep that’s the buzz @ The Music House..! O R I G I N A L ~ I looked over to Andrew @ the sound and nodded for another….and I got to do one more…I picked a new one.. “Barneygod, Skeptic’s Pinata” – which is all about the misconception that people have about my YHVH. Some think he is a cuddly old red nosed chap sitting on a cloud, smoking a pipe and dishing out presents to everyone, or what silly old baby face dork-ears called YHVH. < the guy needs to come to Bible Study and stop getting his ideas from the Dino Zoo. LOL. I stumbled through the song, but everyone seemed to enjoy that.

After Andrew did his microphone bit, I slipped away and on came "Jules". I sat at the back listening and enjoying her journey in songs. It's so nice to do that. As musicians we very seldom get to listen to others…and TMH is so kewl that way. I slipped out the side door after her set and made my way home.

Here's all who played…

Jim Musgrave
Pinky Umbrella
The Gore Vidals
Yum Yum
Jules
Eric Sawyer ( me LOL)

My next gig is at “THE GATEHOUSE” in Dereham Road, Norwich. UK – 14th October 2009 – See ya there.

Peace.
