Abraxas to Jesus, took me 30 years to write, primarily because what happened to me was so hard to explain; that I kept on scrunching up my attempts and throwing them away. Then one day it happened and this is it. It has not been scrutinized by an editor, or had the grammar corrected, and that is the way I wanted to keep it.
The soundtrack is the title track from my second album, Away From This War which came about one afternoon when a fellow guitarist-artist, challenged me to compose a song in the Pink Floyd style. I took up the challenge and ended up performing it a year or so before Apart-hate came tumbling down. Actually I played it with my band Shoshone , the same year that Nelson Mandela became president.
The musical arrangement was put together by Bruce Taylor of Robin Lane Studios, in Bergvliet and the street noise is actually from Wynberg Main Road on a Saturday. If you have ever been there you will know what I mean.
