It seems Stefan is also a Martin lover. [1]
I’m not entirely sure when I was first introduced to Stefan’s music, but I got a copy of ‘Stefan Grossman Live!’ (1972 tours in Europe, UK ‘n USA) for my birthday in 1993. The man is hysterical!
As I was reading through the W.O.E information, I saw a link to a book edited and transcribed by him, titled: Delta Blues Guitar
His part performance, part education style of playing with a generous helping of humour on the live album was the sum total of my experience of Stefan’s music until I began looking through the online illustrated discography. (here) This 1966 album (actually there were four versions of this album), ‘How To Play Blues Guitar’ had a nice little surprise in the note: ‘Rory Block as ‘Sunshine Kate’ or ‘Aurora Block’ playing guitar and second guitar. (Wow, how about that!)
I heard whispered that there might be some more of the old recordings with Stefan and Rory, in circulation. (the note was dated 2004, so maybe it’s already out there. Where?)
