Plying My Trade (Blind and Betrayed) – Eric Sawyer

This was one of the song that did not make the cut for the recordings I did in March 2007 for ‘Peace Dove’. This one and ‘Captivated’ weren’t included and daresay this one has me doing a very Dylanesque style again.

Bob’s albums Time Out of Mind (1997) and his classic 32nd album ‘Modern Times’ (2006) had a profound influence on my mood and feel for the blues during this period of my own journey, something which began with ‘Blood On The Tracks’ (1975) and just kept ‘flooding every new born seed.’ Though Neil Young’s music made it’s mark and I played tons of his songs, it’s by far truer to say that I’ve performed more Bob Dylan songs than by any other musician and I doubt if that will ever change. He’s been the one who carried the torch in bad times, good times and sad times too.

Come to think of it, it’s been two years since Bob did a studio recording. I guess he’s been so into books, radio stuff and the like that he’s probably got no time left. Or, maybe he’s got a humdinger hidden for a last shout at the devil.

Whatever he’s got planned, I’m glad to see that he’s still plying his trade. Good ‘old song and dance man’.
