Once upon a time there were four old blokes sitting dangling their feet over the edge of the universe, sharing war stories and comparing scars. It’s over now, but we had some really sweet times.
Have a brew for me when you do.
Peace,
Eric.

Smoke Stack Lighting – Derailed
by Eric Sawyer
Oh boy, I guess I kinda saw it coming. I’m not to good at doing obituaries on bands which I’ve played in but sometimes when the catalyst that drew a group of musicians together in the first place begins to fall apart it does so until eventually there are only a few left holding it together. It’s not the first time I’ve been in a band where things fell apart.
After we lost our rhythm guitarist against my protestations to the contrary things went from bad to worse. (Truth is I didn’t speak up loud enough! So I’m as much too blame here.)
I wondered to myself how long it would be before I got the boot. (Okay, I’m always a bit paranoid.
) It came last night (8.11.2011). I’m not angry. Perhaps a little, but I’m more sad because I think that when one forms a band one has to remember it is like a family. (and in some sense we got to that place, but it was hardly enough time to form any meaningful relationships. ) You don’t dismiss people because they are not good enough. You retain them. You train them and one day when you’re too old to carry the torch, they do. (I know that’s rather idealistic, but hey I got this whole blues family culture thing going in my mind.) Perhaps these chaps will reform their original nucleus and start again. I hope they do. (though going back is a lot harder than just moving on.) Whatever happens I wish them well in whatever the future unfolds.
It’s sad, but it’s over.
On a lighter note, that’s me going over the edge on the ‘Runaway Train’ (Just one of my songs that did not make the cut for set selections. Actually, none of my songs made the cut.
(Well, I’ll never know that, will I? ) You don’t know what you’re missing boys.
Keep your eye on this page! <<< If you're reading this and you can think of any guitarists, harmonica players, or a partner musicians for my current band 'Blue Django' — gimme a call then.
I wondered when this song would have an application, and now it's done.
The rest if for y'know who.
My perfect set.
